ABOUT CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, NORTHRIDGE
Nestled in the San Fernando Valley within Los Angeles, CSUN operates 13 varsity sports across the Big West Conference with an enrollment of 36,960 students at a campus founded in 1958. The Matadors compete across both Olympic and traditional sports, fielding programs in baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, golf, cross country, swimming and diving, and softball that serve one of California's largest public universities. As a relative newcomer to NCAA Division I—a transition that reshaped the athletic department's competitive landscape—CSUN has established itself as a West Coast presence with facilities and recruiting pipelines centered in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area.
The program's 13 varsity teams generate competition across gender-equitable offerings, with women's sports including basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, golf, cross country, swimming and diving, and softball complemented by men's baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, and tennis. Big West Conference membership positions the Matadors within a conference spanning California and the Mountain West, creating regional rivalries and travel schedules aligned with West Coast athletic standards. GoMatadors.com serves as the digital hub for schedules, rosters, and results across the athletics department's full portfolio of sports.
