PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Colorado State's cross country program competes within the Mountain West Conference, one of the nation's most geographically diverse athletic leagues spanning from the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific. The university itself, founded in 1870 as the Colorado Agricultural College, has grown to serve 34,412 students across its Fort Collins campus situated at 5,003 feet elevation—a natural advantage for distance runners training in the thin mountain air. This high-altitude environment has made Colorado State a consistent competitor in fall cross country competition.

The Rams represent a program embedded in Colorado's running culture, competing in a state that has produced numerous elite distance athletes.
