ABOUT LAFAYETTE

Lafayette College fields 16 varsity sports from its Easton, Pennsylvania campus, established in 1826 as one of the nation's oldest institutions. Competing in the Patriot League at the Division I FCS level, the Leopards sponsor eight men's sports and eight women's sports that represent the college across football, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, and Olympic sports. The athletic department's diverse portfolio reflects Lafayette's commitment to balancing academic rigor with competitive varsity athletics across multiple disciplines.

Football remains central to Lafayette's athletic identity within the Patriot League, a conference known for sustained FCS competitiveness. The program competes annually against regional rivals including Colgate, Lehigh, and Holy Cross in one of Division I's most competitive non-scholarship conferences. Beyond football, Lafayette's men's and women's soccer programs, basketball teams, and lacrosse squads contribute to the college's conference standings and postseason aspirations throughout the academic calendar.

Located in the Lehigh Valley region, Lafayette benefits from proximity to peer institutions and recruits from the Northeast's substantial talent pool. The Leopards' athletic facilities support training and competition across all 16 varsity programs, with football and basketball serving as the primary revenue-generating sports. Student-athletes at Lafayette balance demanding schedules within the Patriot League's rigorous academic environment, maintaining the college's historical emphasis on the student-athlete model.
