NORTHERN ILLINOIS HUSKIES MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Northern Illinois University's swimming and diving program represents one of the athletic endeavors at a public research institution founded in 1895 and currently serving 15,649 students in DeKalb, Illinois. Competing as a Mid-American Conference member during the winter season, the Huskies operate within the infrastructure of a Division I-FBS athletic department. The program shares the competitive mission of NIU's broader athletic portfolio while maintaining its own roster of swimmers and divers who train year-round to meet MAC standards and benchmarks.

Located in north-central Illinois approximately 60 miles west of Chicago, the Huskies draw from a regional recruiting base that includes the state's established swimming communities. The team's home venue facilities support both sprint and distance training protocols required for competitive collegiate swimming. As part of the MAC, Northern Illinois competes against conference opponents including Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, and other regional programs throughout the winter campaign, with dual meets and conference championship events shaping the competitive calendar.
