UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN COLORADO
ABOUT NORTHERN COLORADO
Northern Colorado fields 16 varsity sports from its Greeley campus, which has served 8,869 students since the university's founding in 1889. Competing in the Big Sky Conference at the FCS level, the Bears sponsor a balanced athletic portfolio across football, basketball, and Olympic sports for both men and women. The program balances football and basketball prominence with robust participation opportunities in cross country, golf, tennis, and soccer across both genders.
As a Big Sky institution, Northern Colorado competes among regional programs that span Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and California. The Bears field competitive teams in sports ranging from baseball and softball to the newer addition of women's lacrosse, positioning the athletic department to serve a diverse student-athlete population. With 16 varsity programs operating from its Greeley base in northern Colorado's Front Range region, the Bears maintain a comprehensive Division I-FCS presence that reflects the university's commitment to intercollegiate athletics alongside its academic mission.
