ABOUT WOFFORD

Nestled in Spartanburg, South Carolina since its founding in 1854, Wofford College fields 16 varsity sports across the NCAA Division I FCS level as a proud member of the Southern Conference. The Terriers compete in a balanced athletic portfolio that includes football, basketball, baseball, and soccer programs alongside emerging sports like women's lacrosse and competitive swimming and diving. With both men's and women's teams across cross country, golf, tennis, and track disciplines, Wofford maintains robust competitive offerings across traditional collegiate athletics.

Football remains the flagship program at Wofford, with the Terriers competing at the FCS level against regional and national opponents in the Southern Conference. The broader athletic department supports student-athletes across 16 programs with facilities and resources befitting a Division I institution of approximately 1,400 students. Wofford's athletic identity reflects a commitment to competitive excellence within the FCS ecosystem while maintaining academic standards typical of its liberal arts mission established nearly 170 years ago.

The Terriers' Southern Conference membership connects Wofford to a historic athletic conference encompassing institutions throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Student-athletes at Wofford benefit from small-school accessibility combined with Division I competition standards, creating a unique collegiate sports environment that balances athletic ambition with the close-knit character of a campus of fewer than 1,500 enrolled students.
