BELLARMINE UNIVERSITY
ABOUT BELLARMINE
Bellarmine University's 13-sport athletic program represents one of Louisville's smaller Division I institutions, with an enrollment of 3,077 students supporting Knights competition across men's and women's sports. Founded in 1950, the university joined the ASUN Conference as part of its transition to NCAA Division I athletics, competing against regional and national opponents while maintaining its Catholic educational mission. The athletic department balances competitive excellence across traditional sports like baseball, men's basketball, and women's volleyball with emerging programs in cross country and swimming & diving.
The Knights field robust rosters across dual-gender sports including men's and women's golf, tennis, and cross country teams that represent Bellarmine in ASUN Conference competition. Women's sports comprise seven of the thirteen varsity offerings, reflecting the university's commitment to gender equity in athletics. Located in Louisville—home to the University of Louisville Cardinals and a rich basketball tradition—Bellarmine competes within a competitive regional landscape while maintaining its identity as an NCAA Division I program serving its relatively intimate student body of just over 3,000 athletes and non-athletes.
