PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Florida A&M has competed in NCAA Division I-FCS football since transitioning to that level, representing a historically Black university founded in 1887 with 10,028 students in Tallahassee. Under head coach James Colzie III, the Rattlers field a roster of 100 players competing in the Southwestern Athletic Conference during the fall season. The program operates out of a home venue while maintaining the athletic traditions of one of Florida's most prominent HBCU institutions.

Colzie brings coaching experience to a program that continues building within SWAC competition, where Florida A&M competes alongside regional and national rivals. The 100-player roster reflects the scale of Division I-FCS football operations, with student-athletes balancing the demands of a collegiate schedule against the university's academic mission. As part of a student body of over 10,000 enrolled students, the football program serves as a visible representation of Florida A&M's commitment to collegiate athletics at the highest NCAA classification.
