PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Grambling State University, founded in 1901 in Grambling, Louisiana, fields a softball program within the Southwestern Athletic Conference at the Division I-FCS level. The Tigers compete during the spring season from a campus serving approximately 5,232 students. Located in northeast Louisiana, Grambling State's athletic program reflects the university's historical role as a cornerstone HBCU institution with over a century of educational service to the region.

The Tigers softball program competes within SWAC, one of the nation's longest-standing historically Black athletic conferences. Spring season play allows the program to develop athletes across roster positions while maintaining the rigorous academic standards expected of Grambling State student-athletes. The softball team represents the university's commitment to providing competitive opportunities in a sport that continues growing at the Division I level, drawing from the broader athletic tradition established at the Grambling campus since the university's founding more than 120 years ago.
