LIBERTY FLAMES FOOTBALL

Conference USAD1-FBSfall

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Jamey Chadwell took over Liberty's program in 2020 and has built the Flames into Conference USA competition with a roster of 100 players competing across the fall season at their home venue in Lynchburg, Virginia. Liberty University itself, founded in 1971, has grown to an enrollment of 96,709 students, making it one of the largest universities in the nation. The football program's relatively recent establishment reflects the institution's rapid expansion from its founding through the present day.

Liberty competes in Conference USA as a Football Bowl Subdivision program, placing the Flames among college football's highest competitive tier. Chadwell's coaching tenure has emphasized building a sustainable roster structure and competitive framework within the conference. With 100 athletes on the roster, the program maintains the depth necessary for FBS-level competition across both offensive and defensive units throughout a full season schedule. The Flames continue to develop their competitive identity within their conference while drawing from Liberty's substantial student body to support athletics and campus engagement.
