SOUTHERN UTAH THUNDERBIRDS SOFTBALL

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Southern Utah University, located in Cedar City and founded in 1897, fields its softball program within the Western Athletic Conference as part of the school's Division I-FCS athletics footprint. The university enrolls 15,444 students who support a Thunderbirds athletic program competing in spring season play across the WAC, one of the more geographically dispersed conferences in the nation. The softball program represents one of several varsity offerings at an institution that has grown significantly since its founding 127 years ago in Utah's southwestern corner.

The Thunderbirds compete during the traditional spring softball season, sharing facilities and resources with other varsity programs at Southern Utah. The program operates within WAC conference play, where it faces regional and national-level competition from schools across the western United States. As a newer Division I program relative to many peer institutions, Southern Utah softball competes to establish its presence within conference standings and build sustained success in the highly competitive collegiate softball landscape.
