ABOUT MINNESOTA

Minnesota's athletic program fields 17 varsity sports across its Twin Cities campus, which enrolls 56,666 students and was established in 1851. Competing in the Big Ten Conference at the FBS level, the Gophers maintain a broad-based athletic presence spanning both traditional revenue sports and Olympic disciplines. The program operates across multiple venues including TCF Bank Stadium for football and other dedicated facilities for basketball, soccer, swimming and diving, and other sports.

The Gophers sponsor competitive teams in men's and women's basketball, soccer, tennis, swimming and diving, cross country, and golf, alongside football, baseball, softball, and women's lacrosse. This balanced approach across 17 sports reflects Minnesota's commitment to providing athletic opportunities across both revenue and non-revenue programs. Big Ten Conference membership positions these teams among the most competitive collegiate athletics in the nation, with regular postseason participation across multiple sports.
