UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA
ABOUT OKLAHOMA
Founded in 1890, the University of Oklahoma fields 17 varsity sports across the Southeastern Conference after joining the league in 2024. The football program has won 7 national championships and 50 Big 12 titles during its tenure in that conference, establishing Norman as a traditional powerhouse in college athletics. Football Coach Brent Venables, hired in December 2021, has built the roster with emphasis on developing players from Oklahoma's recruiting hotbed, maintaining the program's national relevance through annual playoff contention.
Oklahoma's athletic footprint extends beyond football, with basketball, soccer, and volleyball consistently competing for conference honors. The women's basketball program has reached 13 NCAA Tournament appearances since 2000, while the softball team has captured multiple Women's College World Series titles. Swimming and diving programs recruit nationally and compete at NCAA Championship levels across both men's and women's divisions. Located in Norman, Oklahoma, approximately 20 miles south of Oklahoma City, the university leverages its position as the state's flagship institution to draw elite talent across all 17 sports.
