OKLAHOMA SOONERS FOOTBALL
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Located in Norman, Oklahoma, the Sooners represent the University of Oklahoma, founded in 1890, and compete in the Southeastern Conference at the Football Bowl Subdivision level. Head coach Brent Venables commands a roster of 100 players competing in the fall season, bringing his defensive expertise to rebuild a program with historically elite standards. Oklahoma's move to the SEC represents a significant shift in the program's competitive landscape after decades in the Big 12.
Venables inherited a storied program with 47 bowl appearances and 3 national championships in its history. The Sooners have produced numerous NFL-caliber talent from their Norman campus and consistently ranked among college football's most successful programs before recent competitive declines. With 100 scholarship athletes and access to SEC-level resources, Venables works to restore Oklahoma football to championship contention while adapting to competition against programs like Alabama, Georgia, and Texas.
