ABOUT MERRIMACK

Situated in North Andover, Massachusetts, Merrimack College fields 16 varsity sports across the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference at the NCAA Division I FCS level, serving a student body of 5,862 across campus. The Warriors launched their football program in 2014 and have built their athletic infrastructure around a balanced portfolio of men's and women's teams spanning traditional sports like baseball and soccer alongside Olympic sports including swimming & diving, cross country, and tennis. With fewer than 6,000 undergraduates, Merrimack competes in one of the more academically integrated Division I conferences, where athletic recruitment and classroom performance remain closely aligned.

The college's 16-sport lineup reflects intentional gender equity, offering eight sports for men and eight for women, positioning Warriors athletics within the MAAC's competitive framework established among similar regional institutions. Since its founding in 1947, Merrimack has developed athletic traditions centered on regional New England competition, with particular emphasis on building sustainable programs rather than pursuing expensive football or basketball dominance. Current Warriors teams compete primarily across the Northeast Corridor, leveraging their location within 30 miles of Boston to recruit and build fan engagement in the tri-state region.
