MARYLAND RETRIEVERS BASEBALL

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

UMBC baseball operates from a campus founded in 1966 in Catonsville, Maryland, where 13,530 students attend the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Competing in the America East Conference at the Division I level, the Retrievers represent one of the newer public universities in the Maryland system and field a competitive spring-season baseball program. The team draws from a student body that reflects the Baltimore-Washington corridor's demographic diversity and geographic accessibility.

Playing their home games at UMBC's dedicated baseball facility, the Retrievers compete in an America East Conference that includes established programs from across the Northeast. UMBC's baseball operation functions within the broader athletic department structure that supports 18 varsity sports on campus. The program recruits primarily from the Mid-Atlantic region and balances competitive Division I baseball with the academic mission of a research-focused institution that enrolls over 13,000 undergraduates and graduate students.

Since joining Division I athletics, UMBC has developed its baseball infrastructure to compete annually in conference play and tournament competition.
