PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Located in Catonsville just outside Baltimore, UMBC's softball program competes as part of the America East Conference at the Division I level. The university itself, established in 1966, enrolls 13,530 students and fields its home contests at the program's designated facility. As a spring-season sport within the NCAA structure, Retrievers softball operates within the competitive landscape of a mid-major conference that spans across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

UMBC's softball program participates in America East competition alongside institutions from throughout the conference footprint. The Retrievers represent one of the institution's many varsity athletic offerings, competing during the traditional collegiate softball season. Student-athletes on the roster work under the program's coaching staff to develop skills in one of the most popular collegiate sports for women, with games played throughout the spring calendar at home and on the road against conference opponents and non-conference scheduling.
