NEW ORLEANS PRIVATEERS MEN'S TENNIS
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
University of New Orleans fields its men's tennis program from the Gulf Coast city that has produced some of college athletics' most distinctive athletic traditions. Founded in 1956, the institution serves 5,200 students and competes in the Southland Conference during the spring season, representing one of the few NCAA Division I programs based in New Orleans proper. The Privateers compete across a conference that spans multiple states, challenging them to balance travel demands with consistent performance in a competitive regional landscape.
Privateers tennis operates within a mid-sized athletic department that prioritizes the sport as part of its spring athletic slate in the Southland Conference. The program recruits student-athletes to represent UNO at the Division I level, competing in both singles and doubles formats throughout a spring schedule that typically runs from January through conference championships. As a Southland Conference member, New Orleans men's tennis faces opponents across Louisiana, Texas, and neighboring regions, making scheduling and travel logistics central to the program's operational framework.
