UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS (MINNESOTA)
ABOUT ST. THOMAS (MINNESOTA)
St. Thomas-Minnesota operates 16 varsity sports within the Summit League as a Division I-FCS institution, drawing from a student body of 9,445 on a campus established in 1885 in Minnesota. The university joined NCAA Division I competition relatively recently, transitioning to the Summit League as it builds its athletic program across football, basketball, soccer, and Olympic sports. With offerings spanning football, men's and women's basketball, cross country, golf, tennis, and lacrosse among others, St. Thomas supports comprehensive athletic opportunities for student-athletes across gender-balanced competition.
Women's sports receive equal emphasis within the Tommies' athletic structure, featuring volleyball, softball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, swimming and diving, tennis, cross country, and golf alongside eight men's programs. This balanced approach reflects the institution's commitment to developing competitive teams across multiple championships opportunities. Baseball, men's soccer, and football anchor the men's program while women's lacrosse and swimming represent some of the university's more established competitive offerings as St. Thomas continues its Division I development.
