STETSON UNIVERSITY
ABOUT STETSON
Stetson University's 16 varsity programs represent one of Florida's most established collegiate athletic institutions, operating since the school's founding in 1883 in DeLand. The Hatters compete in the ASUN Conference at the FCS level, fielding eight men's and eight women's sports that collectively serve the university's 3,670-student body. Located roughly 35 miles northeast of Orlando, Stetson has built its athletics identity around competitive programs spanning football, basketball, and Olympic sports that draw regional recruits and support from the Central Florida area.
Football and men's basketball anchor the Hatters' profile within the FCS and mid-major landscape, while Olympic sports like women's lacrosse, cross country, and tennis programs provide depth across the athletics department. Women's soccer and volleyball consistently compete at competitive levels within conference play, maintaining balanced gender representation across the 16 sports. Swimming and diving programs, along with golf teams on both sides, round out a comprehensive athletics portfolio that emphasizes both traditional revenue sports and Title IX compliance through robust Olympic sport offerings.
