TEXAS RIO GRANDE VALLEY VAQUEROS WOMEN'S GOLF

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Texas Rio Grande Valley's women's golf program competes in the Southland Conference as part of a relatively young university—the institution was established in 2013 through a merger of two regional campuses serving the 35,812-student population across the Rio Grande Valley. Operating within a spring-season competitive schedule, the Vaqueros represent one of the newest Division I athletic programs in South Texas, building their roster and competitive infrastructure alongside the broader university's growth. The program's development reflects UTRGV's commitment to offering NCAA Division I opportunities in a region historically underrepresented in major collegiate athletics.

Competing at the Division I-FCS level, UTRGV's women's golfers face the regional and national competition structure of the Southland Conference, which spans multiple states and includes established programs from institutions with decades more history. The spring season format allows student-athletes from South Texas to develop their games while managing academic responsibilities at the growing university. As UTRGV continues establishing its athletic identity in its second decade of existence, the women's golf program remains integral to the university's broader effort to provide comprehensive intercollegiate opportunities for Vaquero student-athletes.
