TEXAS RIO GRANDE VALLEY VAQUEROS WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's women's swimming and diving program competes as one of the newer Division I athletic initiatives at the school, which was established in 2013 through the merger of UT-Pan American and UT-Brownsville. Based in Edinburg, Texas, the Vaqueros represent a student body of 35,812 across the Rio Grande Valley region. The program operates within the Southland Conference, competing during the winter season alongside regional rivals in NCAA Division I-FCS athletics.

The Vaqueros women's swimming and diving team trains and competes at the university's home venue facilities while building competitive depth in one of the most demanding individual and team sports at the collegiate level. Operating as a relatively young program within UTRGV's athletic department, the team develops swimmers and divers across multiple disciplines including freestyle, individual medley, breaststroke, and platform diving. Participation in the Southland Conference places the Vaqueros in competition with established programs throughout Texas and the South, requiring sustained training and recruitment to remain competitive in Division I swimming.
