TEXAS RIO GRANDE VALLEY VAQUEROS WOMEN'S LACROSSE

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Located in Edinburg along South Texas's border region, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley fielded its women's lacrosse program as part of the 2013 institution's expansion into NCAA Division I athletics. The Vaqueros compete in the Southland Conference during the spring season, bringing lacrosse to a geographic area where the sport has minimal traditional presence. UTRGV's student body of 35,812 represents one of the most diverse enrollment bases in Texas higher education, with the lacrosse team reflecting that broader institutional mission of accessibility and regional representation.

Women's lacrosse at UTRGV joins a relatively young athletic department that has built competitive programs across multiple sports since achieving D1-FCS status.
